Searching For Samuel is a Quest in Villagers & Heroes.
Gobnait spoke of a man and his daughter perishing at the tavern in Trader’s Path, I fear that it is Samuel. I must return to the tavern and find out what has happened.

Objectives
- Return to the Hidden Canyon Tavern in Trader’s Path.
- Speak with Zaira within the tavern.
- Figure out the Scrap of a Puzzling Map.I can read the clue by viewing the item tooltip in my inventory.
- Figure out the Etched Puzzled Stone. I can read the clue by viewing the item tooltip in my inventory.
- Figure out the Swirling Orb. Once I've figure it out, I'll need to use the orb from my inventory in the correct location.
- Speak with Samuel and figure out what is going on.

Walkthrough
- Gobnait told you his part of the story and told you to go back to Traders Path to the Hidden Canyon Tavern. C/D4
- Upon arrival you see smoke and 4 Black Thrush Ambushers, kill them and enter the tavern. You will have to talk to Zaria who tells you that everyone is dead but that Adelrik had given her something to give to you. You only have to prove that you are who you are.
- She asks you 3 questions and 3 answer to choose from – ofc, the Golden Sash is the correct answer. (If you answer wrong you can go through the dialog again). So after you have proven that you are who you say you are, she tells you that Adelrik knew Samuel’s secret and that you will have to protect them, no matter what.
- She gives you a Scrap of a Puzzling Map with clues on it on how to find Samuel.
- Hover over the map in your inventory to see the 1st clue: In the place where the forest opens, at the foot of the torn woman. Will she choose life? Or will she choose death? Only the colonies know. = This sends you to Green Gate D7 (path from D6), due South of the bounty Magentee, a female statue, on her left side (your right side), you ‘ll find some 'loose bricks', which contain the 2nd clue.
- Hover over the map in you inventory to see the 2nd clue: an Etched Puzzle Stone with the following text: You are not too late, even if you've passed through the gate. It will last forever, just not as a tree. Find the clever weaver who denies even the fish their meal = this sends you to Forevers Advent, behind the bounty Matriarch Manniayes F3 on the north side of the huge root is a ‘Webbed Object’. Inside you will find the 3rd clue.
- Hover over the map in you inventory to see the 3rd clue: a Swirling Orb with the following text: Longer than long, hard to grasp, light pours from this timeless being. Up on the ridge, break me, and see what you shall find. Use: Attempt to break the orb. = leads you to Forever Tree G3 (on a ridge). Close to the end between the wooden little chair and the wooden barrel, use the Swirling Orb.
- This makes Samuel & Nadia pop up.
- Talk to Samuel, this ends the quest.
- Keep talking to him and tell him that Adelrik is dead. So Samuel’s secret is actually Queen Fionna is Samuel’s sister and that the actual secret is that Nadia is the true child of King Leo and Queen Fionna.
- He also gives you the follow-up quest: All Is Revealed.
Dialogue
Zaira: "It was a massacre! Are they gone? They were everywhere!"
You "They are gone, I fought them off. What happened?"
Zaira: "It was awful, suddenly there were black feathers everywhere, out of thin air! Adelrik and his mates tried to fight them off, but it all happened so fast."
You "Where is Adelrik?"
Zaira: "He... he didn't make it. Adelrik and his mates have all been murdered!"
You "This is terrible! I knew Adelrik. In fact, I'm the one who first warned him that the Black Thrush were back."
Zaira: "Then you are <Player_Name>! Just before he died, Adelrik gave me something to give you."
You "What is it?"
Zaira: "How do I know that you really are <Player_Name>? You might be a member of the Black Thrush! Prove your identity! What is the special item that you retrieved for Adelrik?"
You "A Golden Praetorian Sash."
Zaira: "Correct! Just before he died, Adelrik whispered for me to tell you that Samuel was an old friend of his. Adelrik said he knew Samuel's secret, and that you must protect Samuel and Nadia at all costs."
You "He knew Samuel? And Samuel's secret?"
Zaira: "I guess I don't really know. But he told me specifically that I must find <Player_Name> and give them this scrap. He said that if you follow the clues, you will find the secret."
You received Scrap of a Puzzling Map!
You "Thank you, Zaira. I must go, will you be all right?"
Zaira: "Yes, I should be fine. Thank you for saving me, <Player_Name>."

Samuel: "<Player_Name>! Goodness, I wasn't expecting you!"
You "Samuel! I'm so glad you and Nadia are safe!"
Samuel: "If you have found us, then does that mean... Adelrik?"

You "I'm sorry Samuel, but he was killed, by the Black Thrush."
Samuel: "I am greatly grieved. Adelrik was a good friend, and loyal always to my sister. He kept her secret all these years."
You "Queen Fiona...?"
Samuel: "Indeed. But how did you know?"
You "I've done much investigating. I suspect that the villain who murdered your sister did not die, but has returned."
Samuel: "Then we need to move, Nadia and I need to go!"
You "But why does this villain want to hurt Nadia so much?"
Samuel: "Have you not guessed our secret? Nadia is the true child of King Leo and Queen Fiona."
You "Nadia... is the crowned princess then?"
Samuel: "Yes, hidden away all these years. My sister always lived in fear that the terrible prophecy would come to pass. And when the Scourge began, she understood that the Black Thrush were what the prophecy referred to."
You "Then what about Shepherd's Crossing?"
Samuel: "My sister was murdered that day, but her infant child was not. Fiona secretly gave me her daughter before she began the journey, and told not even Leo about the enchantment I had placed upon a tiny Malog to resemble exactly their infant child."
You "Go on."
Samuel: "Later, I of course told Leo that his child lived, and that Fiona had begged me to raise her in anonymity so as to keep her safe always from being a target of The Black Thrush." You "And Leo thought it best, too. No wonder he is such a sad king."
Samuel: "Only now, The Black Thrush have found out about Nadia. J.M. never fulfilled his oath of vengeance as he'd thought, and now will stop at nothing to kill her."
You "Just who is this J.M.?"
Samuel: "No one has ever known. But if history is to be repeated, then he will not reveal himself until the numbers of The Black Thrush have vastly multiplied. Until then, he will continue to operate in secrecy and rely upon loyal servants to do his dirty work for him."
You "Like the one who murdered Cressida, and the shrouded woman. Who actually are the same person---"
Samuel: "The same person? How do you know that?"
You "I... I don't know. I don't even know why I said that, it sort of just came out."
Samuel: "An umbral pact!"
You "A what?"
Samuel: "An umbral pact, one of the prices using dark magic! When a dark magic user is helped or saved by a good person, then a pact is formed. The good person gains the ability to vaguely sense facts and actions of the dark magic user."
You "So I know this shrouded woman?"
Samuel: "Yes! More than that, you have even helped her before! And with a discerning dram, we can exploit the pact and reveal both her identity and location! Quick, fetch me my satchel of herbs from our tent while Nadia and I get a fire started to brew the dram on."
