Note from the Coterie Dear Hero, Thank you for taking the time to bear with us, listen to our old ramblings, and learn our story. Please take these relics of the past. Long ago they were used for sinister purposes, but no longer. May they help you in bettering the future. In addition, we have spoken with some of our brethren, and you may now purchase from them special objects. Perhaps with them you will not forget our story, you will not forget us. - Sincerely, the Coterie Item

Walkthrough

  • Return to Blight Bay and talk to Cadmus.
  • At the end of his story he will vanish.

Dialogue

Cadmus: "You're back! Were you able to learn anything of value from the surviving members of the Coterie?"

You "[Explain what you've learned.]"

Cadmus: "Ah... you have recited it perfectly, every detail... and so another learns of our past... our curse... our fate."

You "Wait, you already knew all this?--"

Cadmus: "Indeed."

Cadmus: "I am sorry for the deception, <Player Name>. It was necessary to get you to embark on this journey."

You "Well, not really. I'd do anything for some coin and a good experience."

Cadmus: "Even so, I am glad that you finished the quest, that you learned our history."

You "There is one thing that still puzzles me..."

Cadmus: "Us? The Coterie?"

You "Yes, who are you? Why are you here?"

Cadmus: "As the Blight Raven flew above the islands and unleashed the Blight, the Blight transformed into Blood, Death, Ash, and Shade. As you already know."

You "Go on."

Cadmus: "But a further transformation was made, a further distinction if you will. One more personal."

You "Go on."

Cadmus: "To some, those that hated what Lem did, that wished we could continue living under the shadow and power of Clorian... they turned evil and monstrous. For that is what it truly was: the festival, the offerings... it was evil. It was monstrous."

You "That makes sense."

Cadmus: "To some, those that felt remorse for their actions, who felt saddened that it took a young boy to show them the error of their ways... the Blight still transformed them, a punishment for their perversion, but they were allowed to keep their minds and sanity. They are those who surround you now in Blight Haven, those who seek to help you."

You "Ah, that answers some questions."

Cadmus: "And finally, there are the rest of us, the Coterie. We are those that didn't know what to think. We hated Lem for what he did, but we loved him for freeing us from Clorian. And we hated the Sea Demon for the vile creature that he was, yet we adored him... We both love and hate the blight, as we both love and hate ourselves. And so we are lost, we are pulled apart..."

You "You are unraveled."

Cadmus: "Precisely. And so now we seek atonement, we seek understanding. We seek to spread the knowledge of what has happened here in hopes that it can be prevented elsewhere, and maybe... just maybe... we can save ourselves."

You "That is an admirable pursuit."

Cadmus: "Please take these gifts, as a reminder of what has happened here, as a reminder of what you have learned. You have proven yourself honorable and worthy of such things. And with that, I must take my leave."
